What should I bring?

  • All licenses, permits, bait, rods, and tackle are included in your charter. We suggest the following items to best enjoy your experience.

  • Your lunch

  • Sunscreen​​​

  • A comfortable hat​​​

  • Your favorite beverages (we provide bottled water and soda only)​​​ No glass containers please.

  • A modest size cooler for transporting your fish to your home​​​. Please leave your cooler in your car until we return to the dock.

  • A camera (with waterproof protection if that’s a concern for you). After all, without pictures to prove it, it’s just another fish story!

Where do we meet?

  • We depart from Don's Dock in John's Pass (215 Boardwalk Pl E, Madeira Beach, FL 33708).

 

How long is the trip?

  • We have packages ranging from 4 hours to 24 hours. Please see packages here for options.

How many people can you take?

  • We carry a maximum of 6 passengers. All passengers, of all ages, are included in this count. This is a U.S. Coast Guard regulation we must adhere to.

 

Is there an age limit?

  • We welcome anglers of all ages. We enjoy having kids on board and it is a great experience for the whole family.

Is there parking available?

  • Yes. Parking can be found at the John's Pass Parking Garage 179 Boardwalk Place W, Madeira Beach, FL 33708. The garage is located in the southwest corner of John’s Pass, the big building on the east side of Gulf Blvd just before crossing over the bridge.  Parking fees can be paid via credit/debit at kiosks in the garage, or the WayToPark app, available on Android and Apple. To get to the garage, enter John’s Pass on the southern most entrance, then make your first right, then another  right at the dead-end.  The parking garage will be immediately on your right. 

 

What kind of fish are you fishing for?

  • Depending on the season, you may catch king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, snook, bonito, red grouper, gag grouper, and possibly mangrove snapper or shark, as well as several others. Please see our “Fishing Seasons” page to get an idea of what may be biting at the time you would like to go.

Is there a limit of fish that we can catch?

  • Many species have a regulated limit, set by the Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife. We will help ensure that you stay within the limits.

 

Will you clean my fish for me?

  • Yes! We will also filet it for you if you’d like. Your fish will be packed in ice and ready to take home and enjoy.

What if we don’t want to keep any fish?

  • We do offer catch and release fishing. We normally target sharks for catch and release fishing as sharks are the most resilient.  If you don’t want to keep your catch, just let your boat captain know.

 

Should we worry about seasickness?

  • Each individual reacts differently to being on the water.  Drugstores sell over the counter products such as Bonine or Dramamine to help prevent motion sickness.  Consulting with your doctor ahead of time is always the best preparation if this is a concern for you. 

 

What is your cancellation policy?

  • All reservations require a credit card deposit, which is only held, not processed. All cancellations must be made 7 days prior to the date of the trip. Any reservations canceled within 7 days of the trip will forfeit the full fare for each reservation canceled. Any reservation canceled prior to 7 days before the trip will result in a lift of the credit card hold and no fees at all.

  • We collect a 20% deposit to reserve your date and time slot. This deposit is non-refundable unless the fishing trip is cancelled by the Captain due to bad weather or unforeseen boat problems. This cancellation is made at the dock on the day of the trip, only at the Captain’s discretion. All other cancellations forfeit the 20% deposit.

  • Our booking policy is to meet at the boat at the agreed time and place on the day of the trip. If the fishing trip is cancelled by the Captain due to bad weather, we will try to re-book your fishing trip for a better day if the customer’s schedule allows, otherwise we will cheerfully refund your entire 20% deposit.

  • Cancellations by customers with less than a 48-hour phone call notice as well as no-shows at the dock on the day of the fishing trip will be charged to their credit card the full amount of the length charter slot they have reserved. When you reserve a fishing trip, we do not book anyone else for that time slot.

  • Cancellations must be made via a phone call 727-417-3336.  No cancellations will be accepted via text or email.
